Unlike many of its neighboring countries, Austria does not require a written employment contract. Contracts of employment can be written, verbal, or implied. Only full-time workers are considered employees in Austria and fall under two categories: White Collar and Blue Collar.

  • Gender equality:

The Equal Treatment Act of 1979 legally prohibits gender discrimination in the workplace. The Division of Women’s Affairs and Equality oversees any workplace complaints of gender discrimination or gender inequality.
